Following in the way of Christ our Saviour requires us to take a direction in life that we would not have considered taking but for the presence of God with us in this our earthly life.
Last week we considered the trust which the servants had in Christ when they presented the jar of water as wine to the headwaiter. In John, chap. 4, we have another example of trust when the Centurion begged Christ to come with him to cure his dying son. Jesus told him to go home that his son was cured. In saying this Jesus both admired and tested the Centurion’s faith. The Centurion, a man more given to issuing orders than receiving them did as he was told. He had such faith in Jesu that he went home on his own.
The question for us is, have we such faith, that we would have gone home alone ?
Because he trusted and did what Jesus asked, the power of God was released.
