IV APPROVAL OF 2019 ACCOUNTS
Our assistant Treasurer gave a resume of the accounts.
Session Clerk then thanked all Finance Team for their hard work in getting the accounts done.
Kirk Session approved the accounts, which will now be sent to Presbytery Treasurer.
An Independent Examiner will be found, to validate the accounts, which has to reach the office of the charity regulator, by September 2020.
V REPORTS FROM “121” re. COVID 19 AND CHURCH BUILDINGS
After some discussion Session agreed to leave both Church buildings closed for foreseeable future.
It was noted that schools go back on 11 August 2020, and Session agreed it’s best to leave re-opening any buildings until at least the end of August.
It was agreed we do not have enough volunteers to open the Churches to facilitate private prayer, and as most of our congregation fall into the over 70 age bracket, we have a duty to protect their well-being.
Moderator informed us that we will need to complete risk assessment forms, and have these approved by Presbytery, as a first step.
We can further discuss this when we next meet, likely to be in August 2020, our Interim Moderator is on holiday most of July.
VI RISK ASSESSMENTS
Topic has already been covered.
VII DISCUSS ASSISTANCE TO CHANNELKIRK/LAUDER PRIMARY SCHOOLS
One of our Finance and Fund-raising team members has been in contact with both schools’ Head Teachers to ask if we can help in any way. Both Head Teachers were very grateful for our offer of help, and both valued residential trips which have been currently postponed from September 2020 to April 2021.
Financial constraints on some families could mean some pupils being unable to go.
After some discussion, Session agreed to donate £1,100.00 from Parish Support Fund and, £900.00 from Doughty Bequest, a total of £2,000.00 between the schools, giving £800.00 to Channelkirk Primary and £1,200.00 to Lauder Primary.
The meeting ended with the Benediction.
